RHB Bank has enhanced its existing RHB Multi Currency Visa debit card/-i by expanding the card’s various features and benefits to include 16 new foreign currencies. This is on top of the original 16 currencies that were already supported, which include the US dollar, British pound sterling, and Japanese yen.

With this latest development, the RHB Multi Currency Visa debit card will support up to 32 currencies in total, offering benefits like instant currency conversion with locked-in, preferential exchange rates, as well as zero currency conversion fee when you perform overseas transactions. It will also provide attractive interest rates on your account balance of selected foreign currencies (as you must sign up for a Multi Currency Account to get the RHB Multi Currency Visa debit card).

“Since its introduction in 2019, we have had a good response to the RHB Multi Currency Visa debit card/-i. As of July 2023, we have issued over 62,000 cards and recorded 77% year-on-year growth in the debit card spend, a testament to the debit card’s popularity with our customers. The enhanced debit card mitigates the risks and challenges of cash handling by supporting a wider range of major global currencies, including Arab Emirates dirham, Chinese renminbi, Indonesian rupiah, Brunei dollar, Qatar riyal, Philippine peso, and many more,” said the managing director and chief executive officer of RHB Islamic Bank, Dato’ Adissadikin Ali.

Dato’ Adissadikin also commented that the enhancement made to the RHB Multi Currency Visa debit card is part of the bank’s commitment to making banking more convenient, fast, and seamless for its customers. It also removes the hassle of having to open a savings account in different countries for customers to manage their finances when they travel.

“In line with RHB’s Together We Progress (TWP24) corporate strategy of being the primary bank for everyone, we will continue to make banking more convenient for our customers, wherever they are,” said Dato’ Adissadikin.

The RHB Multi Currency Visa debit card was originally launched in 2019 alongside a separate RHB Premier Multi Currency Visa debit card, and initially offered access to 13 foreign currencies. It eventually upped the number of supported currencies to 16. Customers can now obtain the RHB Multi Currency Visa debit card by signing up for a Multi Currency Account with a minimum initial deposit of US$200 or its equivalent.
