Saito University College in collaboration with RinggitPlus is introducing a Digital Financial Literacy module to its students to be financially prepared when they enter the workforce. Said to be the first of its kind in Malaysia, both parties signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) in a virtual signing ceremony today.

The Financial Literacy Module fits perfectly for Saito College University whose vision is to enable students to make a positive change to their lives and to the community around them. Meanwhile for RinggitPlus, the Financial Literacy Module is yet another step to help more Malaysians  make better financial decisions.

“We are excited to introduce the module to our students as we believe that financial literacy is one of the most important aspects that many young Malaysians could improve on. By learning about personal financial management from professional licensed financial planners, our students will be better equipped to enter the workforce,” said Saito University College Vice-Chancellor Prof. Dr. Vinitha Guptan.

RinggitPlus co-founder and director, Hann Liew said as a strong financial literacy advocate in Malaysia, RinggitPlus has been identifying various ways to educate more Malaysians and spread awareness on the importance of financial literacy. “The partnership with Saito University College allows us to reach out to young Malaysians at a crucial time in their lives and we hope the module can help them make smarter financial decisions in the next chapter of their lives,” Hann said.

The Financial Literacy Module consists of 10 topics with a total of 30 hours of guided learning, covering the key aspects of personal financial management including Effective Financial Planning, Smart Budgeting, Debt Management, Emergency Saving, Investment Strategy, Risk Management and Retirement Planning.

At the end of the course, students who pass the final examination will not only receive credits for their undergraduate or postgraduate programmes, but also the opportunity to apply for an internship with RinggitPlus/Jirnexu Sdn Bhd or its affiliated companies to further expand their knowledge and experience by working in a Fintech institution.
