The RinggitPlus Team was at the launch of BonusLink Travel at Pavilion Bukit Jalil on 3 September 2026, where we got a first look at the new hotel booking platform and tried some of the activities at the BonusLink Roadshow.
During the launch, we watched BonusLink executives demonstrate how the platform works, including how many points you could earn from a hotel booking and how you could use points and cash in the same transaction.
The launch was held as part of the BonusLink Roadshow, which runs from 3 to 6 September at Pavilion Bukit Jalil. BonusLink CEO Bruno Araujo and Chief Commercial Officer Rossnan Cheong were among those who took us through the new platform during the event.
BonusLink CEO Bruno Araujo opened the launch with an example of how much you could earn from a hotel booking.
A RM2,000 booking could earn around 24,000 BonusLink Points, worth RM240. Bruno said that was equivalent to around 120 litres of petrol, which he estimated would last a Perodua Myvi driver six to eight weeks depending on how much they drive.
Bruno said BonusLink has been part of Malaysians’ daily lives for 30 years, but spending habits have evolved as more people shop, bank and book holidays online.
He explained that BonusLink has traditionally focused on rewarding smaller, everyday transactions such as filling up petrol or buying groceries. With BonusLink Travel, a single hotel booking can now earn thousands of points at once.
After Bruno’s speech, BonusLink Chief Commercial Officer Rossnan Cheong took us through a live booking on the BonusLink Travel platform.
For the demo, Rossnan picked the Hilton Palo Alto for a stay from 12 to 15 November, priced at around RM2,100. The room offered around 32,000 to 33,000 BonusLink Points, showing us that the points you earn can vary depending on the hotel and stay.
We also saw the discount code field at checkout, as well as the free cancellation option on the room Rossnan selected. He said BonusLink is working on making the cancellation process smoother.
The ability to combine points and cash in a single payment was another feature we got to see during the demo. For the Hilton booking, existing BonusLink Points could be used to offset the room cost while still earning fresh points on the booking.
One of the activities was Jejak Taman Kenangan, where visitors can use the BLINK app to collect digital stamps from four participating booths. We went through all four booths and collected the stamps, which gave us a chance to receive an exclusive souvenir after completing the trail.
There are also booths from Shell, AmBank, Parkson, GlobalPark, Laifen, Sharp and Perodua, with different activities and promotions running throughout the roadshow.
We found a free drink or doughnut coupon at the Shell booth, while the AmBank kiosk has a game that gives participants a voucher for redeeming points. Visitors can also open an account or apply for an AmBank credit card at the event.
The roadshow has a nostalgia theme centred around “Taman Kenangan”, complete with a cat mascot named Tok Oyen, who plays the park’s “housekeeper”.
Selected items are also discounted by up to 90%, with special vouchers from Klook, BIG Pharmacy and CARiNG Pharmacy available during the event.
Visitors who collect and redeem at least 20,000 BonusLink Points during the roadshow can enter a lucky draw. Prizes include Apple AirPods 4, a Black & Decker vacuum cleaner, 10,000 BonusLink Points and a travel voucher worth up to RM1,000. The total prizes are worth RM10,000.
From what we saw during the launch, the main draw of BonusLink Travel is the number of points you can earn from a single hotel booking.
The platform offers more than 1 million accommodation options worldwide, including international hotel brands such as Marriott, Hyatt and Sheraton, as well as boutique hotels and family-friendly resorts.
The points you earn can be redeemed across the wider BonusLink ecosystem, including petrol at Shell, cash through AmBank and purchases with partners such as Parkson. You can also use them to buy coffee at Shell.
You can book hotels through BonusLink Travel via the BLINK app or bonuslink.com.my. Before booking, check the points rate and terms for the specific hotel and room you’re considering. The live demo we saw showed that the points offered can vary between bookings.
