Free health checks are being offered nationwide on 5 and 6 September under the PeKa B40 2026 Programme, and you do not need to register or fast beforehand. ProtectHealth Corporation Sdn Bhd, an agency under the Ministry of Health, is running the two-day community screening alongside the Malaysia, Jom Check! campaign.
The screening is aimed at picking up high blood pressure, diabetes, and high cholesterol early, before they turn into conditions that need long-term medication or hospital treatment. All you need to bring is your MyKad.
The programme is aimed at 2026 Sumbang Tunai Rahmah (STR) recipients aged 40 and above, as well as registered spouses of STR recipients who are 40 and above. If you already receive PeKa B40 benefits, you are automatically eligible to attend.
If you are not sure whether you qualify, you can check your eligibility online before heading down, which takes a few minutes and saves you a wasted trip. Health screening is only one part of what STR recipients are entitled to, alongside mySalam cover for critical illness and hospitalisation.
The screening covers blood pressure, height and weight measurements, and a blood sample. After that, a doctor goes through the results with you.
There is no fasting requirement, so you can eat normally before you go. There is also no registration form to fill in ahead of time, and no appointment to book. You turn up with your MyKad, and staff confirm your eligibility on the spot.
Selected locations across Selangor, Pahang, Johor, Kelantan, Terengganu, Penang, Kedah, Perlis, Perak, Kuala Lumpur, Putrajaya, Sabah, and Sarawak are taking part over the two days.
The exact venues are listed on the PekaB40 website. Check which venue is nearest to you before you set off, especially if you live outside a town centre and need to arrange transport.
Diabetes, high blood pressure, and high cholesterol often come with no obvious symptoms. People find out only when something else goes wrong, and by then treatment usually means daily medication and regular follow-ups, sometimes hospital admission. That becomes a monthly cost, on top of the pay lost from time off work.
Catching any of these conditions early gives you the chance to manage them with diet changes and cheaper medication before they progress. For a household already relying on STR, that difference shows up directly in what is left over each month. Take-up has stayed low for years, with most eligible Malaysians skipping their free check despite the cost being covered.
The scheme runs year-round at Klinik Kesihatan and participating private clinics, so you can still go for your check later if this weekend does not work for you. For enquiries about the weekend programme, ProtectHealth can be reached at info@protecthealth.com.my.
