How 978 Cups Of Chagee Tea-ed Up One Holiday

Dedication to Chagee Tea: In what might be the most bubble-tea-fuelled holiday hustle Malaysia has ever seen, a man known only as “Leo” has captured the internet’s attention and a travel voucher worth RM15,999 by buying 978 cups of bubble tea in just one month.

The story unfolded during CHAGEE’s Cup Challenge, which ran from 18 June to 18 July. The rules were simple. The person who bought the most drinks through the CHAGEE app during the campaign would win the grand prize. Leo did not just win. He completely dominated the leaderboard.

The Maths That Shocked the Internet

To understand how extreme this was, let’s break it down.

Leo averaged about 32.6 cups of bubble tea every day. That works out to one cup every 45 minutes for 30 days straight. Whether or not he drank every cup himself, that is a serious level of commitment.

Assuming he bought the most affordable drink at RM11.90, Leo spent roughly RM11,648 to win the RM15,999 prize. While he technically came out ahead, this clearly was not just about the value. It was about taking on the challenge.

Could Someone Actually Drink That Much?

If Leo did drink every single cup, that adds up to around 489 litres of tea, based on 500 millilitres per cup.

That is enough to fill almost two small inflatable swimming pools, or about 2,000 standard water bottles. It is a huge amount of liquid for one person to consume in a single month.

What If You Stacked the Cups?

Now imagine stacking those 978 bubble tea cups. With each one measuring roughly 15 centimetres, the stack would reach an incredible 146.7 metres tall.

That’s significantly longer than a football field and roughly one-third of the total height of Menara KL. While it doesn’t quite reach the Petronas Twin Towers’ Skybridge (which is at 170m), the stack is still a massive effort by any measure.

A Legitimate Win With No Loopholes

CHAGEE’s terms were clear. Only paid drinks ordered through the official app were counted. Cancelled orders and unpaid transactions were not eligible.

Leo followed the rules and made it to the top fair and square. He was not alone either. The runner-up managed 735 cups, and third place hit 557. Even the person in 100th place bought at least 37 drinks.

This was not a random stunt. It was a real competition with high engagement from serious bubble tea fans.

The Internet Reacts With Curiosity and Concern

Once Leo’s name hit the top of the leaderboard, social media had a lot to say.

Some were impressed by the strategy, while others worried about his health. One person joked, “I want to win too, but I need to be able to walk to the airport.”

Many speculated that it might have been a group effort or part of a business promotion. Some just wanted to know what kind of motivation keeps someone going through nearly 1,000 bubble teas in one month.

Worth It in the End?

Spending over RM11,000 to win a travel voucher might sound extreme, but Leo got what he came for. He played within the rules, stayed committed, and came out on top.

There was no trick or hack involved. Just one determined person taking a marketing campaign to its absolute limit.

Would You Do It?

We have all chased a promo or tried to game the system a little, but 978 cups in 30 days is next level.

Would you spend that much and drink that much for a shot at a free holiday?
