Public Holidays And Long Weekends Malaysia 2022
Author Avatar

With the calendar already several days into 2022, there is no doubt many of you are planning your annual leave for longer breaks by taking advantage of the public holidays available throughout the year. Of course, international travel is still somewhat hampered by the still-ongoing Covid-19 pandemic, but fully vaccinated Malaysians can look forward to some well-deserved rest via domestic vacations – especially with the government providing perks such as income tax relief for domestic travel!

Ready to make the most out of 2022? Take a look at the long weekends available throughout the year so you can plan your getaways! And for convenience, we’ve also included suggestions on which days to apply for leave to maximise the long weekends.

As you can see, there are quite a number of long weekends in 2022 that you can tap into. In fact, with some careful planning, you can even enjoy a long break of nine days just by applying for only two or three days of annual leave.

Notably, individuals who are celebrating Chinese New Year in February can get nine days off if they apply for three days of annual leave. Similarly, those who want to balik kampung for Hari Raya Aidilfitri can also enjoy a nine-day break in May with two days of annual leave.

Aside from that, there are also several public holidays that fall on Sundays, which means that you’ll get a replacement holiday on Monday. And this translates to – you guessed it! – long weekends of three days (or more if you decide to lengthen it by applying for leave).

With this, we hope that you’ll be able to plan great trips to revitalise yourself and to reunite with family members whom you’ve not met in a long time due to the extensive lockdown periods in 2020 and 2021. That said, do remember to also stay safe and abide by all Covid-19 protocols and standard operating procedures (SOPs) that have been put in place by the National Security Council as you travel!
