Deputy Finance Minister I, Datuk Seri Ahmad Maslan said that members of the Cabinet will conduct engagement sessions on Budget 2024 between mid-August to mid-September, as directed by Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim. These sessions will be carried out on two levels: ministry- and state-level.

“He (Anwar) has ordered all ministers and deputy ministers to hold engagement sessions under their respective capacities to find out what is needed at the ministry level to improve aid for the people, as well as to accelerate the nation’s growth,” said Datuk Seri Ahmad Maslan.

Meanwhile, state-level engagement sessions will see the participation of the prime minister and Datuk Seri Ahmad Maslan, both of whom will visit several states to solicit feedback from the people.

Datuk Seri Ahmad Maslan further noted that the upcoming national budget will continue to focus on improving and enhancing the distribution mechanisms of financial aids, as well as the development of infrastructure. This, in turn, is hoped to safeguard the people’s wellbeing more effectively, ensuring that they can fully benefit from the assistances provided for them.

“This will certainly make Budget 2024 a Madani budget, the rakyat’s budget,” said Datuk Seri Ahmad Maslan. Prior to this, the deputy minister had already commented that the Ministry of Finance (MOF) will hold both physical and online engagement sessions to obtain the people’s opinions and input for the tabling of the upcoming national budget.

Budget 2024 is set to be tabled on 13 October 2023.
