From 1 February 2026, Malaysians aged 18 and above will need to use MyDigital ID as the only login method for the MyJPJ app. JPJ has confirmed that this update supports the country’s move towards more secure and unified digital services.
The single login requirement will take effect on 1 February 2026. Once in force, MyDigital ID will replace the current password-based method for adult Malaysian citizens. JPJ states that the new approach strengthens identity verification and creates a more consistent experience for users accessing government digital services.
Users below 18 years old and MyPR cardholders will continue using the existing login process. They will access MyJPJ through a dedicated link that requires their 12-digit MyKAD or MyPR number and a password. This ensures continued access for groups not yet included in the MyDigital ID rollout.
JPJ reports that 13 million Malaysians have registered or created a MyJPJ account. Out of this total, 1.3 million users have already logged in using MyDigital ID. The remaining users are encouraged to complete the pre-registration process, which includes facial verification. Completing this step helps speed up activation when they register for MyDigital ID.
JPJ recommends that all MyJPJ users set up their MyDigital ID ahead of the enforcement date. Early registration helps avoid congestion and ensures smoother access once the single login requirement begins in 2026.
MyDigital ID functions as a secure digital identity platform. It verifies identity by referencing official records from the National Registration Department of Malaysia. JPJ explains that the platform does not store personal data and is designed to support accurate, transparent verification.
Using a single verified digital identity also reduces reliance on passwords and improves security across online transactions. It allows users to access services more easily without managing multiple login details.
For individuals who have never registered with MyJPJ, the entire onboarding process can be completed using MyDigital ID. JPJ notes that this approach helps prevent fake accounts and reduces the risk of unauthorised access to the system.
New users can begin registration at any time. Completing it before February 2026 ensures uninterrupted access once the new login method becomes mandatory.
JPJ’s adoption of MyDigital ID supports Malaysia’s broader digital transformation efforts. While the policy will only take effect in February 2026, early preparation is encouraged to ensure a smooth transition for all users.
The move aims to simplify access, enhance security, and support a more unified digital experience across public sector platforms. For MyJPJ users, it marks a significant step towards a more secure and streamlined way to manage driving-related services online.
