Payments for phase three of the Bantuan Prihatin Rakyat (BPR) aid will be disbursed to eligible recipients starting from today, and the whole process is expected to be completed by 30 September 2021.

According to Prime Minister Datuk Seri Ismail Sabri Yaakob, the payments will benefit approximately 3.6 million households and applicants who have successfully appealed their cases back in June 2021. A total of RM2.82 billion have been allocated for this round of payments.

Datuk Seri Ismail further clarified that this third phase BPR payments is the full distribution of the remaining sum owed to eligible BPR recipients and individuals who have submitted an appeal for the aid.

“For Phase 3, each recipient will receive up to RM1,400 while those who appealed for BPR will get up to RM2,300, including an additional BPR payment under the PEMERKASA+ programme worth up to RM500, which is based on their respective eligibility based on their marital status, household income and number of children,” said the prime minister, adding that detailed explanation of the third phase payout will be provided by the Finance Minister, Tengku Datuk Seri Zafrul Abdul Aziz.

For context, the BPR aid was first mooted during the tabling of Budget 2021 to replace the previous Bantuan Sara Hidup (BSH) aid, featuring a more streamlined set of eligibility criteria and reach. The first and second phase of BPR payments took place in February and May earlier this year. For more information on the payments of this third and final phase, you can head on over to the official BPR website.

Finally, Datuk Seri Ismail reiterated that the public can look forward several other forms of cash assistance following the end of the BPR cash aid. These include the special Covid-19 cash aid (BKC), as well as an unemployment cash aid worth RM500. Both of these assistances will be disbursed between October to December 2021.
