The Ministry of Finance (MOF) has increased the basic monthly BUDI MADANI Diesel eligibility limit from 200 litres to 300 litres from 1 September 2026. Eligible pickup and SUV owners can receive another 100 litres on top of this, giving them a total monthly allocation of 400 litres.
If you have not previously applied for the additional 100 litres, you’ll need to submit an application through the BUDI MADANI portal.
More than 500,000 owners of private diesel vehicles, including pickups and SUVs, are eligible to apply for the additional allocation, according to the MOF.
If you were previously approved for the additional 100 litres, you don’t need to submit another application.
Your monthly allocation will be automatically adjusted to 400 litres from 1 September 2026, according to the MOF.
The increase also applies automatically to existing BUDI MADANI RON95 (BUDI95) and BUDI MADANI Diesel recipients who meet the relevant eligibility requirements. The basic monthly limit for BUDI MADANI Diesel will now be 300 litres instead of 200 litres.
The extra 100 litres brings the monthly quota for eligible pickup and SUV owners to 400 litres. The higher allocation is meant to support owners who have greater diesel needs, including those who use their vehicles for small businesses or travel to rural and remote areas.
You can apply through the BUDI MADANI portal. The government previously also allowed applications at Inland Revenue Board of Malaysia (LHDN) branches nationwide.
The 100-litre top-up can also be transferred to an immediate family member who is the actual user of the vehicle, subject to the relevant requirements. For example, this could apply if a pickup is registered under a parent’s name but driven by their child.
The government said the higher monthly limit takes into account improved diesel supply management, stricter enforcement, the country’s economic performance and its financial position.
There are currently more than 700,000 users eligible for subsidised diesel at RM2.10 per litre, while 16 million users receive subsidised RON95 at RM1.99 per litre.
