The prices of all Massimo bread products have been increased by RM0.10 to RM0.60, with the exception of the White Sandwich Loaf. This came following an announcement by The Italian Baker Sdn Bhd, the bakery chain that produces Massimo baked goods.

As such, the Massimo White Sandwich Loaf will continue to maintain its price at RM2.80 (400g) and RM4.00 (600g), respectively. Meanwhile, other bread products – such as the Massimo Whole Wheat Loaf, Cream Rolls, and Burrosa – have all seen a hike in prices since Saturday (15 October 2022).

In a statement, the chairman of The Italian Baker, Jeremy Goon explained that the company decided to maintain the price of the White Sandwich Loaf because it wished to help Malaysians cope with inflation; he said that white bread should be an affordable staple for everyone, especially during the economic downturn.  He also assured consumers that the quality of the bread will remain unchanged.

However, Goon noted that the prices of other bread products had to be increased as the company is also affected by both global and local inflation. Among other things, The Italian Baker had to bear with the rising costs of logistics and raw materials, including all baking ingredients. Even back in August 2022, Goon had alerted the public about a possible price increase for its Massimo baked goods.

Prior to this latest round of price hike, The Italian Baker had already increased the price of its products once in January this year (which included the White Sandwich Loaf as well). At that time, it also cited the rise of prices in raw materials as a reason for its decision.
