Puspakom is expanding GiCheck Early Access Reservation (GEAR), a paid service that lets private vehicle owners book a next-day inspection slot for RM150, to all 26 of its main inspection centres nationwide throughout August 2026.
During the pilot, Puspakom recorded a 98.8% booking rate and cut average inspection time to 33 minutes per vehicle.
GEAR’s RM150 fee is charged on top of standard inspection charges. An MV15 ownership transfer inspection costs RM30, so your total with GEAR would come to RM180. A B7 hire purchase inspection costs RM60, bringing the total to RM210.
This RM150 fee is described as introductory and subject to periodic adjustments, so it may not stay at this price. Puspakom said standard booking slots remain available so regular customers are not affected.
Phase 1 launched in the second week of August across 11 branches in the Central and Southern regions, including Cheras, Bangi, Seremban and Johor Bahru. Phase 2 will roll out in the fourth week of August across 12 branches in the Northern, Eastern and East Malaysia regions, including Ipoh, Kota Bharu, Kuantan, Kota Kinabalu and Kota Samarahan.
These 23 branches join the three pilot centres in Wangsa Maju, Glenmarie and Batu Caves to complete the 26-centre rollout, with up to 80 GEAR slots available daily per centre.
GEAR is limited to private vehicles and covers three inspection types: Special Inspection (B2), Transfer of Ownership Inspection (MV15), and Hire Purchase Inspection (B7). This makes it particularly useful for anyone buying or selling a used car against a tight deadline, since a Puspakom inspection is a mandatory step before an ownership transfer can go through.
You can book a GEAR slot through the official GiCheck platform, or check branch availability on Puspakom’s website.
