A RM140 million assistance package will roll out in Selangor to help residents cope with rising living costs, with 50,000 low-income households set to receive RM100 a month from 30 June.
The Selangor Resilience Strengthening Package, announced by Menteri Besar Datuk Seri Amirudin Shari on 15 June, also includes transport subsidies, free school breakfasts, and expanded access to subsidised essentials.
Under the Kita Selangor Voucher initiative, 50,000 low-income households will receive RM100 a month for six months starting 30 June.
No application is required, as recipients will be identified through existing state databases, including the Selangor Well-being Life Assistance Initiative and the Implementation Coordination Unit. The final list will be reviewed on 22 and 23 June, with successful recipients notified before payments begin.
If you commute using the state’s demand-responsive transit van network, a RM30 monthly transport subsidy is now available through the NINE app starting today. The subsidy runs for six months and will be expanded to cover LRT and KTM Komuter services in the next phase.
To access it, download the NINE app and register as a user.
The state government will also roll out a free breakfast programme for 120,000 students in need across 965 schools under the Selangor Education Department and the Selangor Islamic Religious Department. Watch for announcements to see if your child’s school is included.
An additional RM5 million has been allocated to the 2026 Jelajah Ehsan Rahmah programme through the Selangor Agricultural Development Corporation, bringing the total to RM10 million. The programme sells essential goods including chicken, eggs, rice, and cooking oil at prices 30% below market rates, and is expected to benefit up to 168,000 households. If you live in Selangor, check your local state constituency for the schedule. It will run twice in each constituency starting this month.
If you work in Selangor’s manufacturing or services sectors, Phase 2 of the package will focus on protecting those industries from the impact of the global supply crisis. Details will be tabled at a special State Legislative Assembly sitting on 19, 22 and 23 June. Amirudin confirmed the sitting is solely to discuss the resilience package and is not related to any dissolution of the state assembly.
The package comes as several state and federal governments continue rolling out measures to help households cope with rising living costs. Johor recently announced RM138 million in aid for more than 600,000 residents, while at the federal level, SARA and STR programmes continue to provide direct cash support to eligible households nationwide.
