Selangor Opens 50,000 Skim Mesra Places For Seniors And PwD
Author Avatar

The Selangor government has opened 50,000 new places under Skim Mesra, a scheme that gives eligible senior citizens and persons with disabilities (PwD) an RM150 shopping voucher every year. Applications opened on 17 September 2026, and the scheme is run by Yayasan Warisan Anak Selangor (YAWAS).

Members Get RM150 A Year

Once your family member is registered, they’ll receive the voucher every year for as long as they’re a member. Vouchers are given out according to the member’s birth quarter, and they can be used at selected supermarkets under the scheme.

Anyone who joins in this round will receive their first voucher in 2027.

Who Can Apply For Skim Mesra

If your family member is over 60 and also holds a PwD card, they can only register under one of the two categories.

For senior citizens, the applicant needs to be a Malaysian citizen aged 60 or older, a registered voter, and living in Selangor.

PwD applicants need to be Malaysian citizens with a valid PwD card from the Social Welfare Department (JKM), and there’s no age limit. If they’re 19 or older, they’ll also need to be registered voters living in Selangor. For children aged 18 and below, it’s the parent who needs to meet these voter and residency requirements instead.

Applications Are Open Until All Places Are Filled

There’s no fixed closing date. Applications stay open until all 50,000 places are taken, so it helps to register early.

You can register online through the e-Mesra portal. Supporting documents can then be handed in at the YAWAS office or at the nearest state assembly (DUN) service centre. Try not to leave this too long, as YAWAS cancels applications that are still missing documents after six months. You can check on the application’s progress online or at the same service centre.

Vouchers Expire Three Months After Collection

The voucher isn’t sent to members. Your family member will need to collect it in person at their DUN service centre and bring along their original MyKad. After that, the voucher needs to be spent within three months at one of the selected supermarkets.

YAWAS won’t replace a voucher that’s lost or goes unused past the three months. It also can’t be claimed by relatives if the member passes away.

For older relatives who don’t drive or find it hard to get around, this may mean planning ahead so someone in the family can take them to the service centre, and then to the supermarket before the voucher runs out.

If you have questions or need help registering, you can call the YAWAS hotline at 03-5481 8800 or email pertanyaan.yawas@gmail.com.
