Setel Introduces Cash Top-Up At PETRONAS Stations Nationwide
Author Avatar

Setel has introduced a new Cash Top-Up feature that allows users to add funds to their Setel Wallet using cash at PETRONAS stations across Malaysia. The feature is now available at more than 1,000 PETRONAS stations nationwide and is intended to make Setel’s app-based services accessible to customers who prefer paying with cash.

Making Setel Accessible For Cash Users

With Cash Top-Up, customers who prefer using cash can access Setel’s services without linking a bank account or payment card. After completing a one-time verification process, users can top up their Setel Wallet at participating PETRONAS stations and use the balance immediately.

The wallet can be used for fuel purchases, including BUDI95 transactions, as well as parking, shopping, and Mesra Rewards activities available through the Setel app.

In-Store Assistance At PETRONAS Stations

To support customers who are less familiar with digital payments, assistance for cash top-ups will be available at PETRONAS stations. This is intended to help users who usually pay at the counter complete the top-up process smoothly and begin using the app with confidence.

For customers who already rely on cash, the feature offers a way to use app-based fuelling and rewards without changing existing payment habits.

Using Remaining Balances Beyond Fuel

Setel said the Cash Top-Up feature also addresses the issue of unused balances after refuelling. Any remaining amount in the Setel Wallet can be used across other services in the app, including parking, retail purchases, car services, motor insurance renewal, and payments via DuitNow QR.

This allows users to make full use of the funds they have topped up, rather than limiting usage to fuel transactions only.

Part Of Setel’s Broader Digital Access Efforts

The introduction of Cash Top-Up supports Setel’s efforts to make its services usable across different locations and connectivity conditions, including in remote and underserved areas. A lighter version of the app, Setel Lite, remains available for users with slower internet connections or older Android devices.

Ongoing ‘Setel je! Senangnya’ Campaign

Setel is also continuing its ‘Setel je! Senangnya’ campaign in collaboration with Mesra Rewards. The campaign is aimed at helping first-time users try the app through everyday use, from fuelling to parking and shopping.

New users who download the app and sign up using the code C-SENANG receive RM10 upfront to try fuelling with Setel. Participants are also eligible for a share of 60,000,000 Mesra Rewards points and entries to win prizes worth a total of RM320,000 after completing their first fuelling transaction.

Additional entries can be earned through continued use of Setel for fuelling, shopping, parking, payments, and referrals. The campaign runs until 31 January 2026.

How Cash Top-Up Changes How Setel Is Used

By allowing cash top-ups at PETRONAS stations, Setel enables cash users to access its app-based services without changing their usual payment habits. Users can continue paying with cash while using the app for fuelling, parking, shopping, and rewards.

The Setel app can be downloaded from the Apple App Store, Google Play Store, and Huawei AppGallery.
