Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim has announced that BUDI Diesel eligibility can now be transferred to any Malaysian citizen with a valid MyKad who is BUDI95-eligible and the actual user of the registered vehicle.
Previously, transfers were limited to immediate family members.
Owners of more than one private diesel vehicle can transfer eligibility from each vehicle to up to three other vehicles.
Each vehicle’s eligibility can only be transferred once. Once approved, the transfer cannot be reversed or transferred to another person, except in special circumstances. A recipient can only receive a transfer from one registered owner.
If an owner transfers eligibility for every vehicle they own, they will remain eligible for BUDI95 only, not BUDI Diesel.
Applications can be made through the BUDI MADANI portal, at LHDN offices, or with assistance at participating petrol stations.
Applications submitted by the 27th of each month will take effect from the 1st of the following month, subject to verification.
Transfers approved before 16 September remain valid.
The basic monthly eligibility for both BUDI95 and BUDI Diesel rose to 300 litres from 1 September, with owners of diesel pickup trucks and jeeps eligible for a further 100 litres, bringing their total to 400 litres.
