Most Malaysians who use Grab daily for meals, rides, and shopping don’t know all the ways to earn GrabCoins (the new name for GrabRewards). The result? Money is left on the table with every transaction.
The rebrand isn’t just a name change. Grab has added more transactional and non-transactional ways to earn GrabCoins. Knowing these “hacks” means you can get more value from every single order, ride, and shop on actions you’re probably already doing.

We’ll show you exactly how to earn more, transforming you from a casual user to a “pro” earner by highlighting all the new ways to get coins.
For Foodies
Earn 5% back in GrabCoins on Grab Signatures orders or when you order GrabFood for Breakfast & Teatime (6am-11am and 2pm-5pm). If you order roti canai or kopi from your regular mamak for RM10, you’re earning 500 GrabCoins per order. Plus, get 150 GrabCoins when you “Book a Table” on Grab DineOut at restaurants like those at Pavilion or Mid Valley.
For Shoppers
Get 5% back in GrabCoins when you shop from Health & Beauty stores on GrabMart. Buying your usual RM50 of toiletries earns you 2,500 GrabCoins (RM1.67). You can also earn 200 GrabCoins for shopping online with PayLater by Grab. Not only that, earn up to 1x GrabCoins at Jaya Grocer store when you pay with GX Card or GrabPay Wallet.
For Commuters
Earn 5% back in GrabCoins when you book an Advance Booking ride. Book your morning commute from Subang Jaya to KL Sentral the night before (typical fare RM35), and you’ll earn 1,750 GrabCoins while securing your ride time. You also get 5% back when you choose Premium or Exec rides. A RM40 Exec ride to KLCC earns you 2,000 GrabCoins.
The GrabUnlimited Hack
GrabUnlimited members can earn up to 5X GrabCoins on eligible transactions. This multiplier applies to most earning activities above, turning your 5% cashback into 25% on qualifying orders. The membership starts from as low as RM3.99 monthly.
Grab has made it incredibly easy to “cash in” and see instant savings at checkout.
1:1 Conversion
All your existing GrabRewards have been converted to GrabCoins at a 1:1 ratio, so you haven’t lost any accumulated GrabCoins. As a guide, approximately 15 GrabCoins is equivalent to RM0.10 in value.
The Instant Redemption Toggle

This is the best new feature. Gone are the days of needing to browse a catalogue and redeem specific vouchers. You can now redeem your GrabCoins instantly on the GrabFood and GrabMart checkout page.
Just look for the simple toggle on the checkout screen. When you tap it, you will immediately see how much you have saved on your order.
A Key Policy to Remember
GrabCoins will expire 6 months after they are earned. However, any GrabCoins balance you have as of 17 November, plus any GrabCoins earned up to 31 December, will remain valid until 31 July 2026. After this period, the usual six-month validity rule will apply.
Use the instant redemption toggle on regular orders rather than saving up for a large redemption. Small, frequent redemptions ensure you never lose coins to expiry. If you order food weekly, redeem a few thousand coins each time instead of hoarding them for a special occasion.
Set a monthly reminder to check your GrabCoins balance. If you’re sitting on 30,000+ coins (RM20+), use them on your next few orders to prevent expiry losses.

Open your Grab app and tap on the new GrabCoins homepage to see all the current missions, special offers, and bonus earning opportunities you can join. This section updates regularly with limited-time promotions and seasonal campaigns.
Check back occasionally to catch new earning methods. Grab often runs 2X or 3X coin campaigns during major shopping events like the 11.11 sale or Ramadan.

With the new GrabCoins, every little action you take on the Grab app can count towards earning more. From booking a ride in advance to ordering your afternoon snack, these small habits can add up to real savings.
To explore all the ways you can earn and save, make sure to check the new GrabCoins homepage in your Grab app.
