Malaysia Airlines (MAS) has partnered with BMW Group Malaysia to introduce an exclusive private terminal transfer service for selected passengers who wish to travel in premium comfort between the Main Terminal Building and the Satellite Building of KLIA Terminal 1. The service is set to begin on 1 February 2024.
In a statement, MAS said that the partnership was enabled through BMW’s dealer partner, Ingress Auto Sdn Bhd, and will be made available to Enrich Platinum, Business Suite, and Business Class passengers who are flying with MAS. They can look forward to being chauffeured between buildings in the luxurious BMW i7, with each vehicle arranged to accommodate solo travellers, couples, and families of up to four individuals for an exclusive and individualised experience. In other words, you will not need to worry about sharing the ride with other unknown passengers.
MAS also said that during the initial phase, the 24-hour service will be deployed to serve departing passengers first, with the pickup point being at Gate G1 of the Main Terminal Building. In the future, there will be additional units of the BMW i7 vehicle provided to serve arriving passengers; this is set to take place with the completion of the arrival lounge at the airport’s Satellite Building.

“As the only carrier offering this temporary personalised service to our passengers in light of the aerotrain’s temporary suspension at KLIA Terminal 1, it underscores our dedication to elevating our standards of service to ensure a premium travel experience, while also reinforcing our commitment to embedding sustainable practices with the selection of the all-electric BMW i7 series,” said the chief executive officer of airlines from the Malaysia Aviation Group (MAG), Ahmad Luqman Mohd Azmi, adding that the service is targeted especially at MAS’ top-tier passengers.
For context, the aerotrain at KLIA has been suspended until further notice since March 2023, as the management embarked on a programme to replace the trains after more than 20 years of servicing passengers. Some parts were also no longer available from the original equipment manufacturer. In the meantime, passengers who need to travel between the Main Terminal Building and the Satellite Building of KLIA Terminal 1 could do so via the Premium Bus transfer service offered by MAHB.

Meanwhile, the head of corporate communications and sustainability for BMW Group Malaysia, Sashi Ambihaipahan said that this partnership between BMW and MAS is a sign of their shared commitment to luxury and responsible innovation.
“As the leading provider of premium electric vehicles in the country, this collaboration perfectly complements our dedication to creating more awareness on electric vehicles as well as the need for responsible mobility, offering lower CO2 emissions to support various industries in the country, including the aviation industry,” he said.
