MAS Offers Flights For Fully Vaccinated Individuals With Fares Starting From RM89

Malaysia Airlines (MAS) has rolled out domestic flights with fares starting from as low as RM89, in a bid to facilitate travel for fully vaccinated individuals who are approved to do so. These include long-distance married couples and parents with their families, following the easing of several restrictions starting from 10 August 2021 for those who have been fully vaccinated against Covid-19.

Already ongoing, the promotion will run until 30 September 2021, and is valid for immediate travel until 30 October 2021. The all-in one-way fares range between RM89 to RM279, depending on your destination (within Peninsular Malaysia, Sabah, or Sarawak) and your preferred Economy fare option (Lite, Basic, or Flex). Here’s a breakdown of the fares available:

For context, the three flexible Economy fare options come with different levels of privileges, on top of the Enrich Points earned by booking your flights. The Lite fare includes only minimal benefits of free cabin baggage allowance of up to 7kg, complimentary food and beverages, and entertainment, whereas the Basic fare offers slightly more perks, such as 20kg of check-in baggage. The Flex fare, meanwhile, comes with full economy-class flight benefits, including 30kg of check-in baggage, seat selection option, and so on.

Note that passengers must remember to bring along relevant documents as proof for travel and have obtained a valid approval letter from the Royal Malaysia Police (PDRM) before departure. They’re also reminded to check that they have complied with the specific entry requirements of their selected destinations.

In announcing this promotion, the group chief executive officer of MAS, Captain Izham Ismail said that this latest flight series reflected the national airline’s significant role in providing critical air connectivity throughout the Covid-19 pandemic.

“As a caring airline, we remain committed to ensuring safer and seamless travel for our customers by adopting the highest safety and hygiene standards. We believe it is also crucial to operate a flight with a fully vaccinated crew as well as frontline teams, as it is important to welcome our passengers to fly confidently with us,” Captain Izham further said.

According to the national carrier, more than 93% of its pilots and cabin crew are already vaccinated. MAS also expects 100% of its employees (inclusive of all sister companies under the Malaysia Aviation Group) to be fully vaccinated by mid-August. Additionally, it will also present passengers with complimentary hygiene kits, which comes with a non-surgical face mask, hand sanitiser, and sanitary wipes.

The recent updates focus on restrictions for vaccinated individuals. For special discounts for Malaysian senior citizens, it’s best to check directly with the service providers. They often have special rates or promotions for seniors that might not be widely advertised.
