Aeon Bank users who plan to pay their zakat during Ramadan can now do so directly through the bank’s mobile app, following the introduction of a new zakat payment feature. The addition allows customers to complete the payment digitally without needing to visit a zakat counter or use a separate platform.
Payments made through the app are channelled to authorised state zakat institutions through a partnership with Islamic social finance fintech platform Tulus Digital, which serves as a collection agent for bodies such as Pusat Pungutan Zakat Majlis Agama Islam Wilayah Persekutuan (MAIWP) and Lembaga Zakat Selangor.
With the new feature, customers can make zakat payments directly from their smartphones through the Aeon Bank app.
Tulus Digital acts as an authorised collection agent for several state zakat authorities, including Pusat Pungutan Zakat Majlis Agama Islam Wilayah Persekutuan (MAIWP) and Lembaga Zakat Selangor. This allows payments made through the app to be sent directly to the relevant zakat institutions.
The integration means users do not need to visit a zakat counter or separate payment platform to make their contributions.
Once a payment is made, customers will receive confirmation and documentation through several channels.
A receipt will appear in the Aeon Bank app, while a payment notification email from Tulus Digital will be sent to the user’s registered email address. An official zakat receipt issued by the respective zakat authority will also be available through the agency’s website.
This documentation can be used as proof of payment when needed.
Aeon Bank said the new feature is intended to make it easier for customers to fulfil their religious obligations through digital banking services.
The partnership with Tulus Digital connects the bank’s mobile platform with systems used by zakat institutions, allowing payments to be processed securely and transferred directly to their accounts.
The addition of zakat payments expands Aeon Bank’s digital services by combining everyday banking features with tools that support Islamic financial practices.
