Bank Islam Malaysia Berhad, in collaboration with Payments Network Malaysia Sdn Bhd (PayNet) and PLUS Malaysia Berhad (PLUS), has launched a strategic initiative to encourage cashless spending at Rest and Service Areas (R&Rs) during the festive season. The campaign, titled “Balik Kampung dengan Kad Debit-i Bank Islam di R&R PLUS,” runs from 28 March to 30 June 2025, offering customers cashback rewards for digital transactions.
The initiative is designed to promote the adoption of cashless payment methods, particularly during the high-traffic Aidiladha and school holiday period. Customers using a Bank Islam Debit Card-i (MyDebit) are entitled to a 10% cashback on purchases of RM15 or more at participating R&Rs along PLUS highways, with a maximum rebate of RM15 per user. Cashback will be credited after the campaign period, subject to availability and on a first-come, first-served basis.
Bank Islam’s Group Chief Business Officer – Retail Banking, Mizan Masram, highlighted the importance of the campaign in promoting digital inclusivity. “This collaboration marks another meaningful step in promoting safe, seamless, cashless transactions at high-traffic areas like R&Rs. By encouraging digital payments in everyday settings, we are not only enhancing customer convenience, but also supporting the nation’s ongoing journey toward a more digitally inclusive economy,” he said.

Azrul Fakhzan Mainor, PayNet’s Senior Director of Commercial, echoed this sentiment, noting the campaign’s role in enhancing accessibility to cashless transactions. “This collaboration is a great example of how strategic partnerships can make cashless transactions more accessible and convenient for everyone. By leveraging the reach of R&Rs during the festive season, we’re helping more Malaysians experience the ease and security of digital payments in their daily lives,” he added.
PLUS Chief Commercial Officer, Mohd Fauzi Puniran, reinforced the company’s commitment to a fully cashless highway ecosystem. “Through this strategic collaboration, the nation will be better equipped to advance towards a smart highway ecosystem—one that prioritises delivering a seamless, safe, and sustained travel experience,” he said.
Currently, 84.8% of stalls across PLUS R&Rs accept major e-wallets and card payments, and selected R&Rs are expected to become entirely cashless by the third and fourth quarters of 2025.
