Bank Muamalat Malaysia Berhad, in collaboration with Syarikat Takaful Malaysia Am Berhad, has launched Malaysia’s first Cyber Takaful Protection plan. This Shariah-compliant coverage is designed to help banking customers manage rising digital risks. Available from as low as RM14.80 per year, the plan offers an affordable option for those seeking protection against common cyber threats.
According to the bank, cyber threats such as online fraud, identity theft, and unauthorised transactions are growing concerns for many Malaysians, and the Cyber Takaful Protection plan aims to address these risks with coverage not typically found in traditional plans. This includes protection against counterfeit goods, confidence scams, and unauthorised electronic fund transfers.
By offering this protection, Bank Muamalat aims to provide peace of mind to customers navigating an increasingly digital financial environment.
Eligible new customers of MSalary+, Bank Muamalat’s salary crediting solution, will automatically receive 12 months of Cyber Takaful Protection, subject to their consent. This benefit is part of the onboarding process and reflects the Bank’s efforts to add value for customers through enhanced digital security.
The plan is managed by Takaful Malaysia Am under a bancatakaful arrangement with Bank Muamalat. It is available at all Bank Muamalat branches nationwide. This strategic partnership supports the Bank’s broader goal of delivering safe, secure, and inclusive digital banking services.
This initiative aligns with key national strategies, including the Malaysia Cyber Security Strategy 2020–2024 and Bank Negara Malaysia’s digital risk management agenda. It also supports the government’s commitment to promoting secure, technology-driven financial services that are accessible to all.
Bank Muamalat President and CEO Khairul Kamarudin said the launch of cyber protection reflects the bank’s commitment to ensuring customer safety in digital transactions.
“By integrating cyber protection into our services, we are building trust and strengthening resilience within the banking sector,” he said.
Meanwhile, Takaful Malaysia’s Group CEO Nor Azman Zainal said the plan underscores the company’s focus on strengthening digital security while promoting inclusive, Shariah-compliant financial solutions.
Cyber Takaful Protection will be available from August 2025 at all Bank Muamalat branches across the country. For further information, visit www.muamalat.com.my or contact the Bank Muamalat Customer Service Centre at 03-2600 5500.
