Malaysia’s first digital bank, GXBank has revealed that it is set to enable the DuitNow QR payment feature for its customers sometime within this month. The new function is set to be rolled out progressively.
“Hi there! We’re excited to inform that DuitNow QR payments are confirmed and will be progressively rolled out to our users in March. Thank you for your patience and understanding!” the bank shared in its response to several comments made on one of its social media posts yesterday. However, it did not specify a concrete timeline or an actual launch date.
In the specified social media post, GXBank also highlighted that it has achieved as many as 100,000 GX Card users on 3 March 2024 – just 11 days after the bank made its highly sought-after debit card available for application to all users. Previously, GXBank customers had to wait for an application slot to open up for them, as the digital bank was only rolling out the card in batches.
“This debit card isn’t just plastic, it’s a game-changer for your financial goals! With features like unlimited 1% cashback and no hidden fees overseas, we’re bridging the gap between you and your dreams,” GXBank noted, thanking customers for their support and feedback as well in its post.
Available as both a virtual and physical card, the GX debit card lets you earn unlimited 1% cashback on various online and offline retail transactions, including groceries, dining, shopping, petrol, and bill payments. It is also applicable to your spending at Jaya Grocer outlets, where you’re already permitted to earn 1.5x GrabRewards Points for every RM1 spent.
Other perks that are also offered by the GX Card include a waiver on the RM1 MEPS fee for withdrawals at automated teller machines (ATMs) nationwide, as well as on the 1.2% admin fees for foreign transactions. These waivers are currently provided until the end of 2024.
