CIMB Extends 12% Weekend Dining Cashback Campaign For Its Cash Rebate Platinum Mastercard
Author Avatar

CIMB Bank has extended the 12% weekend dining cashback campaign for its CIMB Cash Rebate Platinum Mastercard, allowing cardholders to continue enjoying the benefit until 30 June 2020. The campaign, which began in 15 May 2019, was originally slated to end on 31 May 2020.

To recap, the dining cashback is a temporary feature of the CIMB Cash Rebate Platinum Mastercard, which was announced as part of the May 2019 revision. This made the card one of the best cashback credit cards for dining, as there is no minimum spend condition (this category is exempted from the RM3,000 minimum spend requirement for the other cashback categories). At a cap of RM30 per month, this card offers cashback for up to RM250 in dining spend.

This is welcome news for those who own this credit card, as the 12% dining cashback feature was unusable throughout the movement control order from 18 March 2020 until the start of May, when the MCO was eased into the Conditional MCO and eateries were allowed to re-open under strict conditions. With the extension of the campaign, cardholders can save when dining out once more.

Aside from the weekend dining promotion, the CIMB Cash Rebate Platinum Mastercard also has permanent cash rebates for a variety of other expenses. With a minimum spend of RM3,000 each month, you’ll earn 5% cashback on groceries, petrol, cinema, mobile, and utility bill payments. For spending below RM3,000, you will get a reduced 2% cashback for that month. Total cashback for the five categories is capped at RM30 per month. Additionally, the card also offers unlimited 0.2% cashback on other retail and online spend.

That aside, the CIMB Cash Rebate Platinum Mastercard also carries several exclusive dining deals for foodies, including discounts of up to 50% at selected Japanese restaurants. Cardholders also get to tap into a travel deal of 10% discount when you shop at The ZON Duty Free outlets, although this is a limited time-only campaign, valid until 15 November 2021.
