Golden Screen Cinemas (GSC) has rolled out its GSC Rewards loyalty programme, which offers a range of exclusive membership benefits, including discounts, giveaways, as well as invites to special events. Key to GSC’s loyalty programme, however, is the ability to earn rewards points – dubbed GSCoins – which you can use to redeem free movie tickets and other items.

As you can expect, GSC Rewards members – which you can sign up as for free, for a lifetime membership – are able to earn GSCoins by purchasing selected items online, as well as at GSC physical outlets and the Aurum Theatre. You will earn 5 GSCoins for every RM1 spent on the following items:

• Movie tickets 
• Concession items
• F&B items (including dine-in at Jin Gastrobar and Happy Food Co.)
• Merchandises at the Keepsake store at Aurum Theatre, The Gardens Mall ( KL)

Note, though, that you must make your purchases via official GSC channels in order to earn GSCoins; purchases made through third-party platforms (such as wetix) will not be eligible for GSCoins. 

The accumulated GSCoins can then be used to redeem the following vouchers:

To start earning GSCoins, you will first need to register as a GSC Rewards member via the GSC mobile app or website, as per the following steps: 

• Step 1: Launch the GSC mobile app or website
• Step 2: Tap on the Me tab on the app, or click on Sign In on the website, followed by Sign up
• Step 3: Key in your name, mobile number, and other required particulars, and click on Submit
• Step 4: Log in and activate your GSC Rewards account

Once done, you can start making eligible transactions to earn GSCoins. As you spend, just make sure to log into your account and scan your member QR code before making any purchases to earn GSCoins. The cinema operator also clarified that you must refresh the validity of your GSCoins by making an eligible transaction within every 180 days (from the date of your last transaction); if you fail to do so, then your GSCoins will be forfeited. 

For Hong Leong Bank (HLB) customers with a GSC-HLB credit card, you’ll also be happy to know that you are entitled to earn GSCoins as well when you use the card to pay for your paid expenses at GSC – on top of other card benefits that you already enjoy. This includes amounts spent via GSC-HLB on-the-spot-redemptions (OTSR) via GSC’s box office counters. 

Similarly, if you’re tapping into any buy-one-free-one movie ticket promotions via other credit cards, you will also earn GSCoins. 

Finally, do be aware that members can currently only earn and redeem GSCoins via online channels (GSC app and website). Our check with GSC’s customer service revealed that this is because GSC has only launched the first phase of its loyalty programme. Come mid-August 2022, more upgrades are set to be rolled out, such as allowing members to earn and redeem GSCoins via on-the-ground channels as well.
