The Employees Provident Fund (EPF) has released some early information regarding the special RM10,000 withdrawal facility that is set to open for application on 1 April 2022.

In a Facebook post, the EPF emphasised that members can only apply for the facility via a dedicated online portal. Additionally, it urged members to check on several details in advance to ensure that their applications can be processed smoothly when the time comes, namely:

  • Make sure that your current mobile number is registered with the EPF
  • Check the balance in your EPF account (Akaun 1 and 2)
  • Ensure that your bank account is still active (current/savings account)
  • Ensure that your bank account is under your own name (not a joint bank account or a company bank account)

So if your current contact number is not the one that has been registered with the EPF, do take some time to update your details at the nearest EPF kiosk or branch, or email the EPF for assistance. It’s also crucial that you’re aware of the latest balance in your EPF account, and have an active bank account so that your special withdrawal can be credited to you without any delay.

Meanwhile, members who do not have a bank account are also reminded to choose Payment Instruction (Arahan Bayaran) as their preferred method of payment when filling in their applications for the special withdrawal facility.

Finally, the EPF said that it will share the full FAQ for the withdrawal facility in the near future. In the meantime, make sure to exercise caution against scammers who share online ads claiming that they can help you with your application, or have links to the application website.

The special RM10,000 EPF withdrawal facility was announced by Prime Minister Dato’ Sri Ismail Sabri Yaakob last week to assist those who are still struggling with financial difficulties due to the Covid-19 pandemic. He also appealed to Malaysians to be prudent with their EPF withdrawals, and to only do so if they are really in need.
