Government Announces RM500 Hari Raya Bonus For Civil Servants
Author Avatar

The government has announced that a special Aidilfitri aid of RM500 will be paid out to civil servants together with their salary on 6 May 2021. Government pensioners will also receive an Aidilfitri aid of RM250.

“The government has agreed to give a special Aidilfitri aid of RM500 to all civil servants in Grade 56 and below, including those under a Contract Of Service, Contract For Service, daily part-time officers and those appointed under MySTEP, and RM250 to all government pensioners,” said the Prime Minister’s Office (PMO) in a statement.

The PMO said that announcement on the special aid was made earlier this year compared to previous years, as the government was concerned about helping civil servants and pensioners to make early preparations for Aidilfitri. “The government also hopes the aid will help alleviate the financial burden of civil servants and pensioners,” the PMO stated.

The aid is expected to benefit over two million civil servants and pensioners. As explained by the PMO, the aid is given in appreciation of the contributions and sacrifices made by the civil servants in providing services to the people, especially when the country was dealing with challenging times.
