Minister of Tourism, Arts, and Culture (MOTAC) Datuk Seri Nancy Shukri has said that Malaysians will be able to obtain e-vouchers worth up to RM100 when they book hotel rooms online, starting from 15 July to 31 December 2022. These vouchers are provided through one of the initiatives under the Tourism Recovery Plan 2022.
According to Datuk Seri Nancy, the various e-vouchers will be provided when you book accommodations with hotel operators that are registered under selected associations and entities, as per the following details:
Associations | Total hotels | E-voucher value | Details | Cap | Booking method |
– Malaysian Association of Hotels (MAH) – Malaysian Association of Hotel Owners (MAHO) | Over 200 hotels (under both MAH and MAHO) | RM100 | Minimum spend RM150 | 19,900 customers | Shopee |
Malaysian Budget and Business Hotel Association (MyBHA) | 229 hotels | RM50 | Minimum spend RM60 | 7,960 customers | Shopee |
Rangkaian Hotel Seri Malaysia (RHSM) Sdn Bhd | 19 hotels | RM50 | – Minimum spend RM170 (standard room) – Minimum spend RM210 (family room) | 5,970 customers | Email, telephone, or walk-in |
The minister also explained that each Malaysian (with a valid MyKad) will be able to redeem a maximum of three e-vouchers throughout the whole campaign period.
Aside from these e-vouchers for accommodations, the Tourism Recovery Plan 2022 – which was launched back in May 2022 to help revitalise the domestic tourism industry – also saw MOTAC collaborating with many other industry players to offer a range of incentives. Some incentives that have already been launched thus far include fare discounts when you travel with KLIA Ekspres and Keretapi Tanah Melayu Berhad (KTMB), rebates on tourism packages, as well as e-vouchers for flight tickets.
