ShopBack has taken another significant step in its expansion into the offline retail space with the launch of ShopBack Pay, allowing users to shop at its network of offline retailers and earn cashback from their purchases at selected physical stores.
The popular online cashback rewards platform began its push into offline retail in mid-2022 with the acquisition of buy now, pay later (BNPL) company hoolah, allowing ShopBack users to shop at ShopBack’s physical merchant partners and pay in instalments and earn cashback. With the launch of ShopBack Pay, users now can pay for their purchases in full as well as pay later in three interest-free instalments. On top of that, users can also utilise accumulated cashback from their previous purchases in the app to offset their payments.
Users can pay using ShopBack Pay with debit and credit cards saved in their apps – unlike a traditional e-wallet where they will need to add credits into their account beforehand. To make a payment, users simply need to scan the ShopBack Pay QR codes at the physical merchant outlet, input the transaction amount, and confirm payment. Users can also look at available promotions in store and apply before confirming payment.
Currently, ShopBack Pay and PayLater is available at retail outlets for over 2,000 brands including Christy Ng, Jovian, JD Sports, Puma, Bata, Marks & Spencer, Jakel, and more. “This milestone comes at an opportune moment, aligning with our mission to make ShopBack the most rewarding way to shop. ShopBack aims to be the go-to solution for demand generation and conversion for merchants, as well as for our shoppers to leverage our network of partners to stretch their dollar amidst rising costs and inflationary pressures,” said Eddy Han, General Manager of ShopBack Malaysia.
As part of the launch, ShopBack will be launching various activation campaigns at various physical outlets of its brand partners, where users can win “sure-win” prizes and instant RM15 bonus cashback when they spend an accumulated RM300 in-store with ShopBack at the Christy Ng store at Sunway Pyramid and Jovian store in Shah Alam. Meanwhile, users can also win up to 100% cashback when they pay with ShopBack at selected merchants from now until 31 August 2023. More information on these campaigns can be found in the ShopBack app, available on both Android and iOS.
