Malaysians Travelling to India Now Need to Submit an e-Arrival Card
Author Avatar

The High Commission of Malaysia in New Delhi has issued a travel advisory requiring Malaysians to apply for an e-Arrival Card at least 72 hours before departing for India. The requirement applies to all Malaysian citizens, including Overseas Citizen of India cardholders.

No More Paper Forms At The Gate

The e-Arrival Card is a digital replacement for the paper disembarkation form that travellers previously filled in on the plane. India permanently discontinued paper cards on 1 April 2026. The form must be submitted online or via the Su-Swagatam mobile app, no earlier than 72 hours before your scheduled arrival.

The form asks for passport details, flight and arrival information, purpose of visit, accommodation address in India, and contact details including an emergency contact. No document uploads are required. Upon arrival, travellers present the QR code confirmation on their phone or as a printout to the immigration officer.

Other Documents Still Apply

The e-Arrival Card is not a visa. A valid visa, e-Visa, or OCI card is still required to enter India. The e-Arrival Card is separate from these documents and must be submitted in addition to them.

Travellers should keep a digital or printed copy of their e-Arrival confirmation and check the latest travel regulations before their trip. The High Commission advised referring to the relevant Indian authorities for updated guidelines.

Reminder: If you’re planning a trip, sorting out currency before departure can save time and money at the airport.
