Citi’s Merdeka Campaign Offers Lucrative Rewards Worth Over RM1.7 Million, Including RM65,000 Grand Prize
Author Avatar

Between today until 31 August 2022, Citi will be running its Unlock 65th Merdeka Rewards campaign, in conjunction with Malaysia’s upcoming Independence Day. Open to eligible Citi credit and debit cardholders, there are over RM1.7 million worth of prizes to be won, provided in the form of a grand prize, monthly prizes, as well as special daily top spender and happy hour prizes.

The campaign is divided into two sub-campaigns: Merdeka Contest (grand and monthly prizes), as well as Merdeka Happy Day & Happy Hour. Both sub-campaigns offer varying gifts, and also have different participation criteria – as are detailed below:

Sub-Campaign 1: Merdeka Contest (Grand & Monthly Prizes)

To participate in this sub-campaign, you’ll need to earn contest entries by performing selected qualifying transactions, which then puts you in the running to win the grand prize of RM65,000 cashback, as well as other monthly prizes valued from RM6,500 each. Here’s the full list of prizes that you can win via this sub-campaign:

Do be aware that qualifying spend here refers to any local or overseas retail purchases made on eligible Citi cards during the campaign period.

At the end of each campaign month (for monthly prizes), or the full campaign period (for the grand prize), Citi will shortlist potential winners using a randomiser programme. These potential winners will then be required to respond to a number of questions sent via SMS; the fastest individual to answer correctly will be crowned the winner.

Sub-Campaign 2: Merdeka Happy Day & Happy Hour

As for the second sub-campaign, the first 15 cardholders who record the highest accumulated qualifying spend in a day during the campaign period will win themselves RM650 cashback. This is in addition to the chance to win RM65 cashback daily if you are one of the first 30 customers to spend a minimum of RM150 in a single transaction between 3pm to 5pm.

Similar to the first sub-campaign, note that only local and overseas retail transactions are accepted; qualifying transactions exclude recurring or autobilling transactions.

Cardholders will be automatically enrolled in Citi’s Unlock 65th Merdeka Rewards campaign, so no need to submit any forms or send any SMSes. Instead, all you need to do is to go ahead and meet the spend requirement to stand a chance at winning any of the above prizes!
