Maybank2u Password Reset Moves To MAE App From 18 September 2025
Author Avatar

From 18 September 2025, all Maybank2u password resets must be carried out on the MAE app. The update covers individual and sole proprietor customers, while M2UBiz and M2E users will continue to follow the existing process.

Maybank explained that the update is part of its wider effort to strengthen account security and create a safer online banking environment.

Changing A Password You Still Remember

Customers who know their Maybank2u password but want to update it can log into the MAE app and change it under Settings in the Security menu.

Resetting A Forgotten Password

For those who have forgotten their password, the reset process begins on the MAE app login screen by selecting Forgot Password or Forgot Login Details. Customers must verify their identity using Secure2u. This involves confirming the details used during the initial account registration, entering the MAE app PIN, and completing an identity check through NRIC or passport scanning and a self-portrait photo. Once verified, the username will be displayed, and a new password can be created.

For added protection, only one reset is allowed within a twenty-four-hour period.

Temporary M2U PIN As Backup

If Secure2u cannot be used, for example when a device is lost or a MAE PIN is forgotten, customers may reset their password with a temporary M2U PIN. This PIN can be set at an ATM using the debit or credit card linked to the original Maybank2u registration, or obtained at a branch for those without a card.

A temporary PIN is valid for forty-eight hours and only once. For security reasons, the same card, wallet number, or access number used during the original registration must also be used when resetting the password. Only one active temporary PIN is permitted at a time. Accounts will be locked for twenty-four hours after three failed verification attempts.

Strengthening Online Banking Security

By consolidating password resets into the MAE app, Maybank aims to simplify the process and ensure stronger protection for users. Secure2u will serve as the main authentication method, with temporary PINs available in special cases. This reflects the bank’s commitment to safer digital banking.
