Alliance Revises Timeless Bonus Points Awards For Visa Infinite & Visa Platinum Cards
Author Avatar

Alliance Bank has announced that it will be revising the terms of two credit cards: the Visa Infinite and the Visa Platinum. In particular, the bank is tweaking the awards of Timeless Bonus Points (TBP) related to e-wallet and dining transactions that will go into effect from 14 March 2022.

The two cards, relaunched with fresh designs and new features back in 2020, currently offer a generous 8x TBP for every RM1 spent on e-wallet and online transactions. With the revision, both cards will only earn 8x TBP for the first RM3,000 spent on e-wallet transactions per statement cycle – subsequent transactions will earn 1x TBP for every RM1 spent.

Meanwhile, the Visa Infinite and Visa Platinum both currently only offer 1x TBP for every RM1 spent on dining. But now that the economy is reopening and physical dine-ins are available once more, Alliance is bumping up the rewards for dining on both cards. The revision will see the Visa Infinite earn 5x TBP for every RM1 spent on dining, while the Visa Platinum will earn 3x TBP.

Here’s a summary of the upcoming changes to both cards:

CardCurrent FeaturesFrom 14 March 2022
Alliance Visa Infinite8x TBP on e-wallet transactions

1x TBP on dining transactions
8x TBP on e-wallet transactions (for the first RM3,000 per statement cycle, 1x TBP for subsequent spend)

5x TBP on dining transactions
Alliance Visa Platinum8x TBP on e-wallet transactions

1x TBP on dining transactions
8x TBP on e-wallet transactions (for the first RM3,000 per statement cycle, 1x TBP for subsequent spend)

3x TBP on dining transactions

As mentioned, the revision to both cards will come into effect from 14 March 2022. The changes will most likely only affect the hardcore e-wallet users, as the RM3,000 limit per monthly statement cycle is still fairly hard to hit for most users. At the same time, the addition of the 5x TBP bonus for dining may incentivise more users to use what was previously associated as a pure online usage card in physical dining outlets.
