CIMB Bank has officially launched its CIMB SME BusinessCard, a credit card that is tailored especially for small and medium enterprise (SME) owners. Aimed at simplifying business expense management and rewarding SME owners, the card offers key benefits such as being able to earn unlimited cash rebates of up to 1.25% on your expenses, as well as exclusive travel, dining, and shopping privileges.

In a statement, CIMB highlighted that cardholders will be able to earn unlimited 1.25% cash rebate for their overseas spend, including online transactions. This is on top of a 0.5% cash rebate that is applicable for local expenditures – also without cap.

Notably, CIMB has also collaborated with payment processing platforms like EzyPayment and CardUp so that cardholders can utilise their CIMB SME BusinessCard when making payments to their suppliers or partners who do not accept credit cards as well. This, in turn, enables them to earn the aforementioned 1.25% or 0.5% cash rebates even on expenses that typically won’t net them any cashback or rewards.

Aside from that, CIMB highlighted that its SME BusinessCard cardholders will also be able to enjoy an interest-free period of 50 days, which will provide SME owners with better flexibility in terms of managing and optimising their cash flow.

In terms of travel perks, cardholders will be entitled to 4x complimentary access to Plaza Premium Lounges worldwide, in addition to cash rebates of up to RM30 for in-flight WiFi services. This will allow them to stay connected even as they travel to their destinations, ensuring that they are always aware of the latest updates to their business.

CIMB further shared that the new credit card is also bundled with comprehensive insurance, inclusive of a personal accident (PA) insurance with up to RM1 million coverage, as well as compensation of up to RM1,000 for selected flight mishaps. These include missed flight departures and connections, flight delays, luggage delays and losses, car rental excess due to accidents, and loss of personal funds and documents due to theft.

Other notable perks that the CIMB SME BusinessCard also offers include an exclusive selection of dining, shopping, and hotel privileges, which cardholders can tap into during their business travels. Among other things, they can enjoy cashback and rebates at over 45,000 merchants worldwide, in addition to existing offers from the issuer, Mastercard. Furthermore, cardholders who require more payment flexibility can apply for services like CIMB’s easy payment plan with 0% interest.

As for the card itself, it is made from bio-sourced polylactic acid derived from non-edible corn, a sustainable alternative to plastic. CIMB noted that this is a conscious effort from the bank to uphold its broader sustainability commitments.

“We are pleased to introduce the CIMB SME BusinessCard, an essential companion for the modern business owner. As the global marketplace continues to expand, we understand that SMEs are navigating a rapidly changing landscape, filled with opportunities that extend beyond borders. Our focus is to simplify business expenses and empower the growth of SMEs with value-added solutions that streamline operations, enhance financial efficiency, and foster sustainable success,” said the co-chief executive officer of group commercial and transaction banking for CIMB Group, Lawrence Loh.

Loh also said that this is a good opportunity for businesses to digitalise their transactions and purchases, which will give them a better visibility on their expenses while rewarding them.

The CIMB SME BusinessCard is free for life, and is open for application to a diverse range of business owners, including those managing private limited companies, limited liability partnerships, and sole proprietorships. You can find out more about the card via CIMB’s website here.
