Hong Leong Bank (HLB) is enhancing the features of its Hong Leong Sutera Platinum Credit Card, with changes coming into effect from 1 September 2021. Cardholders will now get 8x rewards points everyday on online spend, groceries and essentials, dining, and overseas spend using the revamped Sutera credit card.
Currently, the Hong Leong Sutera Platinum Credit Card offers 6x rewards points on overseas spend, 3x rewards points on dining, and 3x rewards points for weekend local spend. All other spend garners 1x rewards points. Following the revamp, the Sutera credit card offers a higher points multiplier and more opportunities for cardholders to earn points from their daily spend.
You can refer to the Hong Leong Sutera Platinum Credit Card’s new rewards points benefits in detail below.
Spend Category | Eligible Merchants/Transactions | Rewards Points |
Online Spend | – Lazada – Shopee – Grab – Foodpanda – Touch ‘n Go – MYEG – Spotify – Netflix – Apple Music (Applicable to both e-wallet top-ups and food delivery transactions) | 8x |
Groceries & Essentials | – Grocery stores including Giant, Cold Storage, Jaya Grocer, Mercato, etc. – Drug stores and pharmacies including Guardian, Watsons, Caring Pharmacy, etc. – Selected convenience stores – MyNews and 7Eleven | 8x |
Dining | Dining outlets | 8x |
Overseas | Any non-MYR retail spend | 8x |
Others | All other eligible retail spend | 1x |
Besides the rewards points benefits, HLB has also made revisions to the other features of the Sutera credit card. Effective 1 September, the complimentary access to the Plaza Premium Lounge in KLIA and KLIA2 will be discontinued. However, the automatic coverage for travel accident and inconvenience benefits of up to RM1.7 million will remain in place.
Meanwhile, the annual fees of the Hong Leong Sutera card will be lowered come September, from RM400 for principal cardholders and RM200 for supplementary cardholders to RM120 and RM60 respectively. The annual fee will be waived with a minimum spend of RM15,000 in a year. The minimum income requirement to become a Sutera cardholder will also be reduced from RM60,000 to RM36,000.
If you are an existing Sutera cardholder, you will not be receiving a new card replacement unless your card is expiring – the revision is simply a product feature change to your existing card and there will be no card replacement exercise taking place.
