Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim has announced that eligible Malaysians will be able to register and claim the RM100 eMadani e-wallet credit starting from 4 December 2023 (8am) to 20 February 2024. This time round, the four e-wallets and mobile banking apps that will be involved in the initiative are Touch ‘n Go (TNG) eWallet, ShopeePay, Setel, and MAE by Maybank2u (MAE) app.
In a statement, Datuk Seri Anwar said that the participating e-wallets and banking apps are also set to offer their own additional incentives, in the form of vouchers, cashback, discounts, or rewards points. These will be revealed eventually by the e-wallets and apps themselves, closer to the date.
The eMadani credit, meanwhile, can be utilised for offline transactions until 29 February 2024 once received. It can be spent at retailers and businesses that accept DuitNow QR code payments via the participating e-wallet service providers.
Datuk Seri Anwar further shared that to be eligible for this perk, you must be a Malaysian citizen aged 21 years old and above (as of 1 January 2023). On top of that, you must either be a recipient of the Rahmah Cash Aid (as of 7 November 2023), or are earning an annual income of RM100,000 and below (based on the Inland Revenue Board’s record as of 15 July 2023). You also must not have redeemed a similar perk under the previous eBeliaRahmah e-credit programme.
“With the year’s closing and school holidays upon us, the government hopes the eMadani contribution will help ease the rakyat’s expenses during this time of the year, while concurrently inculcate a cashless payment culture among Malaysians,” said the prime minister.
Datuk Seri Anwar also said that the implementation of the programme aligns with the government’s commitment to expedite the execution of measures to support the digital economy and provide direct assistance to the people.
The eMadani e-wallet incentive was announced back in July 2023, with an allocation of RM1 billion to benefit a total of 10 million adults from the B40 and M40 categories. It is the latest in a series of e-wallet credit initiatives that had been rolled out by the government thus far, following the success of previous programmes like the e-Tunai Rakyat, ePemula, eBelia, and eBeliaRahmah programmes.
