Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim has announced an RM100 e-wallet incentive for all Malaysians aged 21 and above who earn an annual income of RM100,000 or less.

“The estimated number of eligible recipients is expected to be around 10 million rakyat comprising of those B40 and M40, with an allocation of around a billion ringgit,” said the prime minister during the launch event of the Ekonomi Madani: Memperkasa Rakyat framework. He also commented that this new e-wallet credit incentive was driven by the success and impact of previous programmes.

Specifically, Datuk Seri Anwar noted the success of the most recent e-wallet credit initiative, the eBeliaRahmah programme, which provided eligible youths with RM200 worth of e-wallet credit. Three e-wallets were involved in the programme, namely Boost, Setel, and Touch ‘n Go (TNG) eWallet – each offering additional perks to sweeten the deal as well.

Other e-wallet credit initiatives that had also been rolled out in the past include e-Tunai Rakyat, ePemula, and eBelia.

Specific details regarding the latest RM100 e-wallet credit initiative – such as the participating e-wallet service providers and the distribution process – have not been disclosed as of yet, but it is highly likely that the government will adopt a similar method to the eBeliaRahmah programme.
