ShopeePay has launched a new Verified Premium tier, offering users who complete the enhanced e-KYC process with double the transaction limits of the current Premium tier.

Following our earlier report where Shopee had initially teased about the limit upgrades, the new Verified Premium tier has officially been released, and its FAQ page on Shopee has also been updated to reflect the new changes.

Verified Premium users now enjoy higher daily, monthly and annual transaction limits compared to the standard Premium tier – double the current limit virtually everything, from transaction limit and wallet holding limit. Here’s a table comparing the new Verified Premium tier (right column) with the existing Premium tier and the Basic tier:

Starting 4 December, all Premium users (whether new or existing), must complete the enhanced e-KYC process to access the new Verified Premium tier and its upgraded limits. Existing Premium users who verified their accounts before 13 November 2024 will need to perform the enhanced e-KYC to unlock the updated privileges.

Meanwhile, Android users running OS versions below 7.0 are restricted to a daily checkout limit of RM200, according to the service’s guideline. Those upgrading to a device with OS Version 7.0 or higher must re-bind their ShopeePay account to the new device to maintain access to the service.

Since its launch in July 2019, ShopeePay has grown to be one of the most popular e-wallets in Malaysia, thanks to direct integration with the Shopee app and rapid introductions of new features, such as being one of the first e-wallets to adopt DuitNow QR for physical payments support. However, as e-wallet usage continues to be the new norm with over 90% adoption rate in Malaysia, and with the likes of Boost and notably, Touch ‘n Go eWallet’s huge wallet upgrade recently, this will be a welcome upgrade for heavy e-wallet users.
