Prudential Introduces Four New Insurance Plans Under i-Lindung For EPF Members, Immediate Family
Author Avatar

Insurer Prudential Malaysia said that it has rolled out four new insurance plans that are targeted especially at Employees Provident Fund (EPF) members who wish to tap into the i-Lindung programme. This comes as the programme was recently updated with a Phase 2 expansion, allowing members to now use their Akaun 2 fund to purchase coverage for their immediate family members as well.

In a statement, Prudential said that the four new insurance plans that are provided for this particular group include PRUGuard Family and PRUCare Family (conventional), as well as PruBSN Lindung Famili and PruBSN Cegah Famili (takaful). Here are some key details regarding the plans:

Prudential said that its collaboration with the EPF for Phase 2 of the i-Lindung programme is aimed at empowering more Malaysians to be protected. This is given the fact that less than half of them have life insurance and only 54% have health insurance – a trend that has persisted over the past five years.

Malaysians who are interested in purchasing these plans from Prudential will need to log into their EPF i-Akaun mobile app, head over to the “Member Protection Plan” section, then select their preferred plan. Following that, you will be guided on how to make your payment through your EPF Akaun 2.

You can also find out more about the four new plans themselves – PRUGuard Family, PRUCare Family, PruBSN Lindung Famili, and PruBSN Cegah Famili – on Prudential’s website. Previously, the insurer only offered individual life and critical illness plans for EPF members under the i-Lindung initiative, namely PRUGuard Life, PRUCare Life, PruBSN Lindung, and PruBSN Cegah.

For context, the i-Lindung initiative was first launched back in July 2022 so that members can purchase life and critical illness protection for themselves at an affordable price using funds from their Akaun 2. Fast forward to early this week, the i-Lindung initiative was updated with Phase 2 to enable the purchase of insurance for immediate family members (spouse and children).
