The government will provide a special Aidilfitri financial assistance of RM500 to civil servants in Grade 56 and below, including contract staff, daily part-time officers, and those appointed under the MySTEP programme, with disbursements set to take place before Hari Raya Aidilfitri, Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim announced.
Anwar, who is also finance minister, said retirees, including pensioners, recipients of derivative pensions, Employees Provident Fund (KWSP) retirees, as well as both pensionable and non-pensionable veterans, will also receive RM250.
The financial aid aims to ease the burden of civil servants and retirees in preparation for the festive season. More than two million recipients will benefit from the initiative, which involves an allocation of over RM900 million. The government stated that this measure is part of its commitment to fair wealth distribution while maintaining responsible financial management.

Anwar highlighted that the MADANI government remains focused on strengthening economic policies, improving national revenue, and ensuring that financial resources are returned to the people. He also reaffirmed the administration’s commitment to reducing wastage and enhancing fiscal discipline within the public sector.
In addition to the Aidilfitri assistance, the government will expedite the Phase 2 distribution of Sumbangan Tunai Rahmah (STR), benefiting nine million recipients starting from 24 March 2025. This initiative will involve an allocation of RM1.7 billion, further reinforcing the government’s pledge to support the financial well-being of the people.
Anwar also expressed hope that the Aidilfitri assistance would help alleviate financial strain while encouraging civil servants to continue serving with dedication.
In accordance with Service Circular No. 1/2024 on the Implementation of the Public Service Remuneration System (SSPA), Grades 55 and 56 under the Malaysian Remuneration System (SSM) have now been reclassified as Grade SSPA 15.
