How Much Will Bantuan Prihatin Elektrik Help You Save On Your Electricity Bills?
Author Avatar

On 20 June 2020, the government has announced the Bantuan Prihatin Elektrik (BPE) of RM77 rebate; an equivalent to the first 300kWh/month for the month of April, May and June’s electricity bills for domestic consumers. This would mean that over four million Malaysians who are low-power users will enjoy free electricity bills for the three months, while high electricity consumers would also get to enjoy the RM77 rebate, totalling to RM231.

The BPE rebate is on top of the existing discounts on Tenaga Nasional Berhad (TNB) electricity bills, under the Economic Stimulus Package (ESP), which offers discounts of up to 50% for domestic consumers effective April to September 2020. Recently, the government has also announced the extension of electricity bill discount from 30 September, to 31 December 2020 to help Malaysians cope with their financial burden during these challenging times.

With BPE and electricity bill discounts added up together – how much will these benefits help you save? Have you ever wondered how do these benefits apply to your electricity bills? Read on to find out how much you would be able to save on your July’s electricity bill this month.

If you’ve been paying your estimated electricity bills during MCO-CMCO period, there is no need to worry as TNB will automatically adjust your payments accordingly. Any excess payment you’ve made will be automatically credited into your July 2020’s billing.
