Registration for the ePemula programme has opened today (11 April 2022), enabling eligible youths and full-time students at local higher learning institutions to register and receive a one-off RM150 e-wallet credit.

According to the Ministry of Finance, the registration period for ePemula will run until 1 June 2022, and eligible individuals can do so with any of the four e-wallet partners selected for the programme. These include BigPay, GrabPay, ShopeePay, and Touch ‘n Go (TNG) eWallet. Meanwhile, the e-wallet credit – once received after successful registration – will be valid until 10 June 2022.

“Apart from RM150 in the form of e-cash credit from the government, the e-cash service providers – namely BigPay, GrabPay, ShopeePay, and TNG eWallet – will also provide additional incentives in the form of cashback, vouchers, accumulated points or coins during the programme period,” MoF further said.

The ePemula programme was initially introduced during the tabling of Budget 2022, with the aim of encouraging cashless transactions among young Malaysians. With an allocation of RM300 million, it is open to Malaysian youths aged 18 to 20 (born between 2002 to 2004), or full-time students who are studying diploma or Malaysian Skills Certificate Level 4 (SKM4) and above at registered local institutions. About two million youths are expected to benefit from this programme.

Prior to this latest ePemula programme, other similar e-credit incentives that had also been rolled out by the government included eTunai Rakyat, ePenjana, and eBelia.
