BigPay Increases Earning Rate For Its Rewards Programme, Up To 6x Points
Author Avatar

AirAsia-backed BigPay has announced an upgrade to its rewards programme, allowing users who have linked their BigPay account to their airasia rewards account to now earn up to 6x airasia points when they spend using the service.

Prior to this revision, BigPay’s rewards programme allows you to earn only one airasia point for every RM20 or RM30 spent, depending on your category of expenses. Now, the earning structure has been enhanced to be more rewarding, as is shown below:

Expense categoryEarning rate before revisionEarning rate after revisionMultiplier after revision
In-app bill payments1 point for every RM20 spent1 point for every RM10 spent2x
Local expenses1 point for every RM30 spent1 point for every RM10 spent3x
International expenses1 point for every RM30 spent2 points for every RM10 spent6x
airasia transactions1 point for every RM30 spent2 points for every RM10 spent6x

Do be aware that the airasia points earned will be credited to your account within 24 hours after each successful transaction, while the bonus points will be awarded within 14 days.

BigPay also clarified that users are allowed to earn unlimited points per transaction – as long as the transaction is valid and qualifies for the programme. Transactions that are not eligible to earn points include peer-to-peer (P2P) transfers, cash-outs or ATM withdrawals, as well as reloads of other e-wallets. Additionally, multiple transactions that do not hit the minimum spend cannot be combined to earn points.

Finally, note as well that BigPay refers to this upgrade as an ongoing campaign that will run for “an indefinite period of time or any other period as deemed fit by the organiser”. As such, frequent BigPay users may want to take advantage of this upgraded benefit as often as possible while it is still available.

For those who are not aware, airasia points and airasia rewards were previously known as BIG Points and BIG Rewards, respectively. The names were, however, eventually revised following the merging of the BIG Rewards app with the airasia Super App at the end of 2021 to offer a more seamless user experience. The airasia points earned can then be used as a digital “currency” across the entire Super App ecosystem.
