Public Bank has revamped its PB engage mobile banking app, offering new and improved features as well as a fresh user interface for an enhanced mobile banking experience.
Highlighted in this revamp is the inclusion of the Quick Balance feature, which lets you access your account balance summary through fingerprint or face ID authentication. You’ll have to activate this function on each mobile device before you can use it, and you’re allowed to activate up to three devices per user. Note, however, that Quick Balance allows quick access to your account balances only. If you’re using other services on the PB engage app, you’ll still be prompted to enter your password.
That aside, Public Bank’s improved app now also supports the DuitNow QR, the nation’s universal QR standard which enables payments from all participating banks, e-wallets, and merchants. Technically, this is a re-launch as the feature was already enabled when Public Bank enhanced the PB engage app back in September 2019, becoming the first bank in Malaysia to introduce the DuitNow QR. For convenience, you can also enable fingerprint or face ID authorisation for transactions below RM250.
Other notable new features include future-dated transfers and the SecureSign token. With the future-dated transfer feature, you can now schedule transfers and payments for a later date. Meanwhile, the SecureSign token is a digital signature service that generates a dynamic, time-sensitive security code for transaction performed via Public Bank’s online/mobile banking channels. The token typically costs RM50, but it is currently waived until further notice.
Another enhancement is the Quick Action Menu, located in between the Account Details and Transaction History sections. This serves as a navigation shortcut to help you access transfer or payment functions directly from your account balance page, allowing for faster and more convenient transactions. Additionally, it is now possible for you to share transaction receipts with your friends and family via email and other supported communication apps (e.g. WhatsApp, WeChat, etc.) from the app itself.
Finally, if you wish to personalise your PB engage app, you can do so by selecting your preferred theme background and by uploading your profile picture to the app.
The enhanced PB engage app is available for download on Google Play, the App Store, and Huawei’s AppGallery. You can also head on over to the PB engage app page on Public Bank’s website to find out more.
