RHB Bank To Replace SMS OTP With Secure Plus For Safer Online Transactions
Author Avatar

RHB Bank has announced that, effective from 14 February 2025, SMS One-Time Passwords (OTP) will be discontinued and replaced with RHB Secure Plus for authorising online and e-commerce transactions made using RHB Debit and Credit Cards/-i. This transition aims to enhance security and protect customers from fraudulent activities.

To use RHB Secure Plus, customers must link their device via the RHB Mobile Banking App and activate it at any RHB ATM. The mobile banking app is available for download on both Google Play and the App Store. Once activated, transactions will be authenticated through push notifications rather than SMS OTPs, ensuring a seamless and secure online payment experience.

When making an online or e-commerce payment, customers will receive a push notification prompting them to approve or reject the transaction. If no notification is received, they can manually access RHB Secure Plus through the app’s pre-login screen to verify their transaction. For security reasons, only one authorised device can be linked for transaction approvals. After linking a device and activating RHB Secure Plus, a 12-hour cooling-off period will apply, during which transactions via RHB Online and Mobile Banking cannot be performed.

To ensure optimal functionality, customers are advised to enable push notifications for the RHB Mobile Banking App and use devices running Android 10.0 & above or iOS 15.0 & above. For further details on RHB Online and Mobile Banking services, customers can visit the official RHB Digital Services page here.
