Setel Expands On-Street Parking Feature To Include Petaling Jaya, Klang, & Machang
Author Avatar

Petronas-backed payment app, Setel has expanded its on-street parking feature to also support payments for street parking within the areas under the Petaling Jaya, Klang, and Machang municipal councils.

Prior to this, the feature – which was rolled out by Setel earlier this year – was only enabled for three initial municipal councils. With this latest update, Setel users will now be able to pay for street parking in the areas covered under these six municipal councils:

  • Majlis Bandaraya Petaling Jaya (MBPJ)
  • Majlis Perbandaran Klang (MPKlang)
  • Majlis Daerah Machang (MDM)
  • Majlis Bandaraya Subang Jaya (MBSJ)
  • Majlis Perbandaran Kuala Langat (MPKL)
  • Majlis Perbandaran Teluk Intan (MPTI)

For those who are unfamiliar with the feature, there are two ways for you to pay your street parking through Setel – depending on whether you have your GPS/location function switched on in your phone.

If you have your GPS switched on, simply fire up your Setel app, and tap on “Parking” on the home screen, followed by “Street Parking” and “Park Now”. Your location should be automatically pinned in the map that pops up; go ahead and confirm it (or amend it if your vehicle is pinned at the wrong location), and follow the remaining prompts to make your payment.

Alternatively, if you do not have your GPS switched on, you can manually set your location by selecting the right municipal council from the list after accessing the on-street parking feature within Setel. Once you’ve confirmed your location, select your vehicle and set the parking duration, and press “Pay”. And you’re done!

If you need to check the details of your active parking session, it will be available to you on the homepage of your app; just tap on “View details” to view the active parking session card. You will also receive a notification to extend your parking duration 15 minutes before your booking expires, in case if you need to.

Additionally, Setel’s FAQ mentioned that you can book more than one session within the active parking session for your vehicle, as long as your vehicle is registered with your Setel account. Finally, remember that on-street parking fees paid using Setel will also earn you Mesra points, along with other payments that you can also make via the app.
