Shopee has officially launched ShopeeFood on its platform, expanding its services to include food delivery.
According to a statement by Shopee, the service is currently being rolled out in batches, and will be made available to over 8 million Malaysians living in the Klang Valley starting from 24 September 2021. The process had actually began last week, which saw approximately 25% of Shopee users getting early access to the new feature.
Shopee further noted that users will be able to purchase from a variety of popular eateries through its ShopeeFood service. These include A&W, Burger King, Nando’s, Starbucks, Tealive, as well as local street food stalls.
The chief operating officer of Shopee, Terence Pang also commented that the e-commerce platform is delighted to now include food delivery as part of the Shopee experience. “This new service will also enable food and beverage merchants to move online and reach out to more customers, driving long-term growth. We hope that our users and merchant partners will enjoy using ShopeeFood. We will continue to improve our platform and services to better serve the needs of everyone,” he said.
As we’ve mentioned in our earlier article, ShopeeFood is operating only within the Klang Valley for now, although there are plans to continue expanding nationwide in the future. Delivery hours are between 10am to 10pm, and consumers will need to pay a service fee on top of the delivery fee for their purchases. It is also possible to use Shopee Coins to offset some of the payment.
Additionally, ShopeeFood is currently offering free delivery vouchers with no minimum spend and discount vouchers worth up to RM8 to its users in celebration of this launch. On top of that, there is another upcoming deal that you may also want to tap into; between 24 to 28 September 2021, ShopeeFood will be providing meal deals at RM10 or less for even more value.
