MAE App Now Allows Payment And Transfer Limit Changes
Author Avatar

Maybank has begun rolling out an update on the MAE app from 12 January 2026 that allows users to change their payment and transfer limits directly within the app. The update is being introduced progressively and gives customers more control over how much they can spend or transfer each day.

The existing option to manage limits via Maybank2u web remains available.

More Control Over Daily Transaction Limits

With the update, MAE users can adjust their payment limits directly through the app, without needing to switch platforms. Users can also change their transfer limits within the same interface, making it easier to manage daily transaction caps based on personal needs.

This may be useful for customers who want to temporarily increase limits for larger payments, or reduce limits as a security measure.

Additional Changes For imteen Account Holders

For imteen account holders, the MAE app now allows changes to daily payment, transfer, and reload limits in one place.

This gives parents and guardians greater visibility and flexibility when managing transaction limits linked to teen accounts, while keeping controls within Maybank’s existing security framework.

Limit Increases Come With A Cooling Off Period

As part of Maybank’s security measures, any increase in payment, transfer, or reload limits triggers a 12-hour cooling-off period. During this time, users can continue making transactions up to their existing limits, but the higher limit only takes effect once the cooling-off period ends.

Users receive notifications through the MAE app or SMS when the cooling-off period starts and ends.

Security Checks Still Apply For Higher Limits

Limit increases require verification through Secure2u. This additional step applies only when raising limits, not when lowering them, and is intended to reduce the risk of unauthorised changes.

Maybank has reminded customers to review their daily limits regularly, increase them only when necessary, and stay alert to any unusual account activity.

What Users Should Plan For

For most users, the update means fewer steps when managing daily transaction limits and better control directly from the MAE app. However, users planning to increase limits for time-sensitive payments should factor in the 12-hour cooling-off period to avoid delays.

Customers who suspect unauthorised access to their account are advised to activate the Kill Switch via the MAE app or Maybank2u web to temporarily block access and protect their funds.
