Maybank Upgrades Sama-Sama Lokal Online Platform With New Features

Maybank customers and merchants who have been using the Sama-Sama Lokal platform on the bank’s Maybank2u mobile will now be able to enjoy an improved user experience. This comes following the bank’s move in introducing several upgrades to the platform.

According to a statement by the bank, the upgrades will allow customers to experience a more seamless and straightforward payment process, which is integrated directly into the Maybank2u app. Previously, Sama-Sama Lokal customers had to pay for their purchases via instant transfer (online banking) or Maybank QR Pay.

Aside from that, customers will be able to get live updates of their orders, starting from the moment it is accepted, prepared, picked up by a designated rider, and delivered (available only to those in the Klang Valley). They can also automatically get a quick summary of all their orders – both ongoing and past – within the app.

Meanwhile, merchants on the platform can tap into a convenient and secure payment system that is backed by Maybank. This is on top of other benefits, including gaining a quick view of all their orders (including pending orders) while simultaneously accepting more, as well as receiving updates on their delivery partners.

Senior executive vice president and head of virtual banking and payments at Maybank, Kalyani Nair said that these new features will further smoothen the customer journey and provide merchants with additional tools to help them enhance their operations and increase sales. “We are encouraged by the strong response towards Sama-Sama Lokal as well as the community’s enthusiasm to support home-grown businesses, and will continue to develop this platform to make their experience an even more delightful one,” she said.

Maybank’s Sama-Sama Lokal platform was launched during the movement control order (MCO) last year in a bid to help small businesses in the local neighbourhood to build their online presence. With the platform, these merchants were able to market their wares to a wider audience, including Maybank’s customer base. Additionally, the service was provided for free; merchants did not have to pay any fees to list their businesses on the platform, and Maybank also subsidised the delivery charges for certain areas.

As of today, the Sama-Sama Lokal platform features more than 8,000 merchants nationwide, ranging from F&B, groceries and sundry shops, pet services, health and beauty, fashion, automotive, and more. It has recorded a 27% increase in its average monthly orders from 2020 to 2021.

If you’re a frequent user of Maybank’s Sama-Sama Lokal platform, do take a look at the ongoing campaign where you can enjoy a one-time discount of RM10 on your order if you purchase from any of the merchants. Moreover, there is another Ramadhan & Raya Sama-Sama Lagi Meriah Campaign, allowing customers to get another RM10 discount on delivery fees and 50% off on their orders (capped at RM30) with a minimum spend of RM20. Both offers are valid until 19 June 2021.
