Public Islamic Bank has officially relaunched four of its credit cards, including the Public Islamic Bank Visa Platinum Credit Card-i and the Public Islamic Bank MasterCard Platinum Credit Card-i. Previously offering only 0.2% cashback on all retail purchases, the Public Islamic Bank Platinum credit cards now offer 4% cashback on two categories each.
The Public Islamic Bank Visa Platinum gives you 4% cashback on online and overseas transactions, with no minimum spend required. Meanwhile, the Public Islamic Bank Mastercard Platinum offers 4% cashback on grocery and departmental store spend. The cashback earnings are capped at RM30 per month, so you can earn cashback on up to RM750 worth of monthly spend before you reach the cashback limit for each card.

Besides that, Public Islamic Bank Platinum cardholders get 2x complimentary access to any Malaysia Plaza Premium Lounge. You also get complimentary automatic travel insurance of up to RM500,000 – as well as an e-commerce purchase protection benefit for online purchases that cover losses of up to USD$200 per year.
Visa cardholders are also entitled to the benefits of a 0% Flexipay Plan, where you can convert purchases above RM1,500 into a 6-month instalment plan with 0% management fees. However, if you own the Mastercard Platinum, the benefit available to you is the 0% Balance Transfer Plan, where you can convert your outstanding balance (above RM1,500) from other banks into a 6-month instalment plan with zero management fees.
Both Islamic credit cards come with a charity feature, where 0.1% of the cardholder’s total dining transactions will be automatically donated to Yayasan Waqaf every month. The donation amount is capped at RM100 per month.
The minimum income requirements for the Public Islamic Bank Platinum cards remain unchanged at RM40,000 per year or RM3,333.33 per month. Similarly, the annual fees are the same as before at RM333 per year for a principal card and RM150 for a supplementary card. The annual fee is waived for the first year and waived for subsequent years if you swipe at least 12 times in a year.
With a vast upgrade in terms of cashback benefits (with no minimum spend requirement!) and added together with the complimentary airport lounge access, the new Public Islamic Bank Platinum cards are a huge step up from the former versions. The Public Islamic Bank Visa Platinum in particular is likely to be a popular pick, given the continued demand for credit cards offering cashback for online transactions these days.
In fact, the Visa Platinum falls only just slightly short of Public Bank’s crowd favourite the Public Bank Quantum Mastercard, which offers 5% cashback for online transactions, also capped at RM30. However, the Quantum Mastercard comes as one half of the two-card Quantum duo, whereas you can get the Public Islamic Bank Visa Platinum without having to apply for the Mastercard.
